Newly redecorated chalet-style mountain home on a 1/2 acre lot surrounded by woods, yet with breathtaking mountain and valley views.
The cabin features 3 levels, Great room with cathedral ceiling and river rock fireplace, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and 2 living rooms, and a game room loft. The stone fireplace and and cedar accents create the magic in this cozy mountain lodge. Two decks overlook the 60 mile view.
There is a mostly paved road, followed by a half mile of gravel road leading from the road to the house. There is a wood walkway with 4-5 steps leading from the driveway/parking area to the front door so the house is NOT really handicapped accessible.
On the Main level, the Bear Room Master Bedroom has King Bed, living room has a big screen TV with Netflix. A Master bath with double sinks is off the hallway.
Downstairs, is a recreation room and Buck Room (bedroom), both with Queen Beds. Off the hallway is a laundry room and full bath. There is an owners storage area called Owner’s Lair which is not accessible to guests.
The top floor loft game room sports a custom made cedar log pool table.
Or go to the lower deck, and climb in the large hot tub. Surrounded with LED mood lights, two waterfalls and jets, you can’t help but relax. But, if its a problem, the kitchen has an LED lit wine refrigerator. Grab a plastic wine glass and jump back in the jacuzzi and take in the breath taking views of the valley and even Winchester, some 50 miles away. Note: Please no glass in the hot tub!
You won’t miss your favorite shows with TV’s on all three levels, and the Buck Room has a TV with built in VCR and DVD player and gaming ports for the kids.
Equipped with Cable TV, Netflix (on Living Room TV) and Cable Internet, WIFI available (bring your own laptop).
Wildlife, including deer and occasionally black bears, wander through our community. Please keep the utmost distance for your safety. Drive slow and keep your eyes out, on the roads as deer may suddenly dart in front of cars.
Please NOTE when grilling or cooking outdoors, you must tend to the fire at all times and fully extinguish fire when you are finished! Leave no food unattended because it can attract and harm wildlife, and pose a danger to you.
The home is only 20 minutes’ drive to the Skyline Drive and Appalachian Trail — the surrounding area is full of Civil War sites, fruit stands, and antique shops. Summer, Spring, and Fall are the seasons for various festivals in the nearby historic Town of Front Royal. The tasting rooms of Linden Vineyards and Fox Meadow Vineyards are less than 5 miles from the home and there many other wineries nearby, specializing in Chardonnay. Horseback riding, equestrian events, zip lining and golf are nearby.
Linden is an easy drive from Washington DC or Dulles Airport on Route 66 (about 65 miles, a little more than 1 hour). The quaint and historic town of Front Royal is a 10 minute drive from the cabin.
In winter, a 4-wheel drive vehicle and even chains are suggested in case of snow and ice on the mountain roads. The first hour of precipitation is often the most treacherous. Be aware of weather reports at all times and plan your comings and goings so as to avoid road hazards.
Roads are cleared professionally, so please wait until the plow has come through before traversing the mountain roads. Call Larry our property manager if in doubt about whether or not the roads are safe.
Bear Lodge Cabin is in a forested area. Extra caution must be taken with cigarette butts and outdoor grill. Use the propane grill starter and do not use lighter fluid. A locking metal ashcan is provided (at the grill area) for disposal of cold ashes only. Please do not put ashes in the trash cans on the deck. Our housekeeper will dispose of them for you.

I would be very interested in renting your cabin on High Knob the weekend of October 11, 2014. We live on HK ourselves and are getting married on the 11th. Our home is very small, and I (as the bride) am thinking of staying in your cabin with my daughter, mom, and sisters. Or perhaps just family…but we definitely need more space! So, my first question is, will be cabin be available for a few nights over that weekend? I really look forward to hearing from you. You have a beautiful property!
Thanks so much,
